Classes in ECCE prepare students for employment in early childhood education and services. Students are able to complete a pathway in ECCE by taking 3 courses: ECE 1, ECE 2, and ECE Practicum. Classes offered are part of the Georgia Education and Training Career Cluster.
During the time spent in the 3 ECE courses, students are exposed to theory of education, learn about growth and development of children, and they are able to apply the concepts studied in class during practicum experiences in elementary school classes under certified teachers.
Upon completion of the ECCE pathway students take an End-of-Pathway Assessment. Students who pass the assessment are granted a seal on their diplomas upon graduation. Also, students who complete the three courses in the pathway receive a cord to wear at graduation.
Students in the ECE classes are encouraged to get involved in Family, Career, and Community, Leaders of America (FCCLA). FCCLA is a student organization that has a central focus of the family. It provides opportunities to build leadership
and competitive skills necessary in the world of work and in the
